Plein Air at the Ranch

Fall is winding down along the river and the leaves are slowly making their way to the ground. I wanted to get just a few paintings done before it gets too bleak outside so I headed over to the ranch to do a view in the trees. It was truly a beautiful day and so I tried to enjoy it as I know from now on I will be pulling out the old down coat that I purchased used on ebay and my Elmer Fudd hat for those cold winter days.

I had the chance to get one last painting before the cold and decided to hang out at home. The colors are changing slowly and in a brown gray sort of way this year. Nothin to write home about anyway.

Hi Eldon, I totally agree - the colors were not as brilliant as last year- I think it was just too wet at the beginning of the fall display and when it's wet- well the colors just turn kind of brown. Oh well, maybe next year- I found a coat that is heated somehow and you can wash it- I think it's by Sears- I'm going to try it- I'll let you know how it works- since you love painting outside in the winter so much- ha!

Thanks Becky, I'm just trying to paint the last of the fall as much as I can- to keep from feeling guilty about not painting up to the end of the color. Winter lasts such a long time here.....
