In the earlier post I had talked about picking a motif and keeping things simple. I had worked out a small sketch of a painting that I wanted to do - here is the result-- this painting is 12x24.
Hi Sue, Your comment on picking a motif has me going back and looking at a lot of my stuff. I have not thought too much about it but now I'm wondering if some of the things I had thought were right on could have been better with a little more thought aimed at "picking a motif". Thanks for the mini earth quake. I need to get shaken up around here once in a while. Eldon
Emile Gruppe's book is really good on that subject and sometimes it is hard to throttle back- especially when everything is paintable.. I have been trying to very hard to follow this idea deliberately - especially in my studio paintings. I think I am working so hard at it because normally I really want to paint everything- I really do...
