New Show at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center

Here are three paintings that we all painted from roughly the same view.  This is the overlook of the Arkansas River by Salida.
Dave Coni and I will be having a show at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center on February 10 from 4 to 7 pm- yikes!  That is today!  It should be a good show- we have a lot of work displayed and will have a table full of miniatures  as well as TONS of food!  We always do and nobody leaves our art show hungry.  I hope to see lots of people there and it should be great fun.

Creede Show on Friday, June 3.

This Friday Night, Coni Dave and I will be having a reception for our show at the Creede Theater in the Upstairs Gallery.  The name of the show is 3 Friends, 3 Painters , 3 Points of View. The reception is from 5:30 to 7:30.  These are a few pictures of the paintings that we will have hanging in the show.

Dave was the hammer and nail guy -

Here is a large painting of North Clear Creek Falls that I did for the show and some smaller paintings by each of us next to it.
More paintings

These are all paintings that we painted of downtown Creede.

I'm looking forward to the show.  I have been trying to make small truffles for it all week and am trying to plan some other food items.  I'm hoping for a good sized crowd so I keep making more food.
Try to make it to Creede - it will be a good show!

A New Show at All Good Things Gallery

I will be the featured artist at All Good Things Gallery for the month of December.  The reception for the show will be Friday December 3 from 5 to 7.  The above painting Soft Reflections at Sunset -( 30x24) will be in the show as well as some other studio paintings- Snow Shadows (below)

I will have about fifteen paintings on display including some plein air and very small miniatures. I'm excited that Jenna Ford, owner of the gallery asked me to do this- I didn't get around to having my show at the studio this year so it worked perfectly.

The Rest of Wyoming

There were a few more paintings that I did during the week- this is of the Snowies on a cloudy day- picking this motif was a mistake and i knew it about 10 minutes into the painting- but did I stop and change gears?  No way- very dumb...

This is a painting across the alley from the cement factory in Cheyenne- the workers were so sweet- they drove real slow as to not kick up too much dust while we were painting- for that I am grateful...

Here is Ulrich Gleiter- our new friend from Germany with his Quick draw and the new owner as well as the model of the painting.....

Coni Grant and Scott Eckberg enjoying Kitty's cookies at Harvey Deselms Gallery.

Kitty's Cookies- these little gems were made to look like small plein air paintings- it was hard to eat them because they were so amazing.  But I did and and it was delicious!

Three Painters- Three Friends- Three Points of View

An ensemble art show is currently being shown at the San Luis Valley Brewing Company in downtown Alamosa. The three artists, David Montgomery, Susan McCullough and Coni Grant, all share a love of oil painting and offer the viewer different interpretations of the landscape.

Lifelong painter, conservationist and interpreter of the landscape, David Montgomery from Alamosa creates work that highlights the glory of nature and is a celebration of the harmony found in that natural world.

Susan McCullough paints the West with the exuberance and understanding that only comes from a lifetime of focused observation and inspiration with a passion to see and reveal the landscape “en plein air” or painting out doors. Susan lives in Monte Vista.

Also a plein air painter, Coni Grant uses her design background together with innovative color ideas to express a view of the landscape that is distinctive and contemporary. Coni is also an art educator and lives in Alamosa.

David, Susan and Coni can often be found painting together in Colorado and New Mexico, enjoying the camaraderie of friendship and a common interest in painting on location.
All three painters are full time professionals and show their work in various galleries inColorado, New Mexico and Wyoming.
This exhibit is being shown at the San Luis Valley Brewing Company in Alamosa during regular business hours for the month of May.

Getting Ready for the Show

Well, I am working on getting my studio ready for the holiday show next weekend- the little barn that I painted is my logo for the studio. The barn actually exists to the south of the studio- but I wanted to use it in the logo instead of the house which happens to be rather boring. It's just a house- you know? I have been making cookies and brownies and appetizers, labeling and hanging an incredible amount of art and am getting tired. I will post some pictures soon.
