Sunset

I was trying to order some brushes off the internet and as I ran downstairs to get my credit card I looked outside and the sky was absolutely amazing. I decided to paint a quick one and ran my easel outside, threw my wallet on the ground, and painted like a crazy lady- I'm glad my kids were too busy playing x-box to notice this wild woman running around and painting. Well, by the time I finished this I could not see my canvas very well at all and when I took it inside I saw that I had put the paint on much thicker that I usually do- I usually calculate too much when painting under normal - take your time conditions. Well anyway- this is what I got- a little sloppy for what I usually do but it was finshed very quickly.

Number 2 in my painting a day series

Well, today I couldn't go to the mountains to plein air paint like usually do and the sky has kind of a smoky haze which doesn't do much for painting vistas- too many forest fires in Colorado and New Mexico I guess. Anyway, I decided to paint some poppies that were in my front yard and honestly, I had a rough time. I decided not to paint on my usual canvas and paint on a birch board that had shellac on it. I just was not very happy with the result and will go back to my canvas that (I didn't realize til now) I have grown very accustomed to. Maybe tomorrow will work out better.
